Why the sealer is the real test here

Decorative concrete lives or dies by two things in our climate: the base and the sealer. The same clay soil that heaves and cracks a plain slab will crack a stamped one, so the prep, the rebar, and the control joints have to be right before we ever press a pattern. Then there's winter. Freeze and thaw and the road salt and ice melt that come with it will scale and dull a decorative surface that isn't sealed and kept up. So we cure it right, seal it with a product built for this climate, and tell you how to maintain it. Do both and your decorative work still looks good years down the road.

Is stamped concrete cheaper than pavers or stone?

Usually, yes. You get a similar look for less than laying real stone or pavers, and there are no seams between pavers for weeds and frost to push up through.

Will the color hold up through the winter?

Good color, proper curing, and a quality sealer hold up well. What wears decorative concrete out here is winter salt and ice melt on an unsealed surface, so we seal it and tell you when to reseal, which keeps the color looking fresh.

Can you stamp or resurface my existing patio?

Sometimes. If the existing slab is sound we can add a decorative overlay, but if it's cracked or heaving we'll tell you straight, because stamping over a bad slab just hides the problem for a season.

Does stamped concrete crack?

It can, like any concrete, because the soil here moves with the frost. We control it with base prep, rebar, and control joints, and we place the joints to work with the pattern instead of fighting it.
